Lea Regional Medical Center
Located in the southeastern corner of New Mexico, Lea Regional Medical Center serves as the regional health service provider for the southeastern New Mexico and the west Texas region.
This community-based facility was opened by Humana in 1974 under the name Llano Estacado Medical Center. The facility got its present name when it was purchased by the Hospital Corporation of America in 1979. In 1999, Lea Regional became affiliated with Triad Hospitals, Inc. and continued operations in partnership with its sister facility, Carlsbad Medical Center in Carlsbad, NM.
Today, Lea Regional Medical Center is a 250-bed facility offering acute medical and surgical services to the greater Hobbs and surrounding communities. The specialized medical services offered at the center include cardiac services, outpatient services, pediatrics, obstetrics / labor and delivery, rehabilitation therapies and respiratory care services. Transitional Care Unit, Surgical / Orthopedics Unit, Inpatient Physical Rehabilitation Unit, Gastroenterology / Endoscopy Department, Emergency Department and Cardiac Cath Lab are the main units functioning at the hospital.
The center also gives special emphasis on adult mental health. Its team of professionals, which includes a psychiatrist, medical physician, registered nurses, licensed practical nurse, mental health counselor, recreational therapist, social worker, and mental health technicians/aides, provides mental health care to patients in a structured environment and therapeutic programs.
Lea Regional Medical Center is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
