Adirondack Medical Center
Adirondack Medical Center (AMC) is an acute care general hospital located in the heart of Adirondack Mountains, New York. It is comparatively large hospital, which serves the residents of five counties. The hospital has 50 physicians representing more than 19 specialties.
AMC was opened in 1991 with the consolidation of the General Hospital of Saranac Lake and Placid Memorial Hospital in Lake Placid. Today, it is a leading medical facility and offers a broad range of inpatient and outpatient medical and surgical services. Centers of excellence are Colby center for geriatric psychiatry, community health centers, emergency departments, Stafford new life center, Merrill cancer center, and rehabilitation and sports medicine unit.
AMC hosts the only bariatric (weight-loss) surgery program in northern New York.
