New York-Presbyterian Hospital



New York-Presbyterian Hospital, the largest hospital in New York State and one of the most comprehensive university hospitals in the world, is based in New York County. Established in 1868, the hospital is home to Babies and Children's Hospital, the clinic where the first pediatric heart transplant surgery was performed, and Herbert Irving Comprehensive Cancer Center.

The hospital is composed of two famous medical centers, NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Columbia University Medical Center) and NewYork-Presbyterian Hospital (Weill Cornell Medical Center), and is affiliated with the Columbia University College of Physicians and Surgeons, and Weill Medical College of Cornell University.

As a healthcare leader, the hospital strives to offer state-of-the-art inpatient, ambulatory and preventative services in various areas of specialization including, AIDS care, gene therapy, minimal access surgery, reproductive medicine and infertility, trauma care, vascular medicine and women's health. New York-Presbyterian is also one of the leading academic centers in the world. Two medical schools facilitate its research and mobilize resources. The research conducted here includes studies addressing molecular therapeutics, neurobiology and behavior, reproductive sciences, women's health, the human genome, cancer genetics, and Alzheimer's disease.
