Oneida Healthcare Center
Oneida Healthcare Center (OHC), formerly called Oneida City Hospital, is a private, voluntary organization in Madison County, New York. It was started in 1894 as a treatment room for victims of rail-road accidents. Today, OHC is a full service community hospital offering a complete range of health services.
OHC comprises an acute care hospital and a 162-bed skilled nursing facility (ECF), which is licensed by the State of New York and operated by Oneida Health Systems, Inc. Both facilities are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).
The hospital strives to provide comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in various areas of specialization to the residents in Madison and western Oneida counties. Intensive care, surgery, cardiopulmonary, women's health, imaging services, nutrition services, case management are the key services available there.
In addition to primary health centers in the towns of Canastota and Camden, OHC operates a maternal/child clinic at the Northside Health Center in Oneida, four outreach laboratory draw stations in Oneida and Camden, and a rehabilitation wellness center in Oneida.
In affiliation with numerous educational institutions throughout New York State including the Madison-Oneida BOCES, Oneida Healthcare Center provides educational facility for selected senior students in Allied Health professions. Certified nursing assistant training, cardiopulmonary resuscitation training and patient education are also offered.
Wee Care Program, located on 607 Seneca Street, is a comprehensive childcare program operated by Oneida Healthcare Center. It is an ideal environment for young children aged 6 weeks to 5 years old. In addition to educational experiences for the young child, the program integrates art, music, dramatic play, and age-appropriate field trips.
