Rochester General Hospital, started in 1864, is the second largest hospital in Rochester. It is an acute care, teaching hospital providing comprehensive services to the southern shore of Lake Ontario and New York's Finger Lakes Region. Rochester is an active partner of the ViaHealth - a family of health care providers serving the greater Rochester area.

Rochester Heart Institute is the forth largest cardiac center in New York. This center has been honored with the Quality Cup Award and the Top 100 Award in cardiac care four times.

To reach out to the public, the hospital arranges computer courses, and sponsors a wide variety of childbirth and family, personal enrichment and clinical education programs.
