Jacobi Medical Center

Jacobi Medical Center is the largest public hospital in Bronx and is named after Dr. Abraham Jacobi, known as the father of American pediatrics. It has been serving the Bronx and New York area residents since 1955.

The hospital offers a complete range of acute, specialty, general and psychiatric services. Jacobi also operates community health care centers throughout Bronx County which provide general adult and pediatric examinations, and health screenings for a variety of concerns, including hypertension, diabetes, breast cancer and prostate cancer.

Medical and surgery, orthopedic trauma surgery, sports medicine, joint reconstruction, diabetic treatment, HIV services, dental care, heart care, orthopedics, gastroenterology and therapies are the services provided there. The centers of excellence include burn center, regional hyperbaric center, regional snakebite treatment center, asthma center and comprehensive alcoholism treatment center.

Jacobi Medical Center is one of the foremost medical teaching centers in New York City. Working in partnership with other leading medical institutions, including the Albert Einstein College of Medicine - a major academic site, the hospital sponsors residency and fellowship training programs in more than 40 specialties and subspecialties.

Jacobi Medical Center is a member of the New York City Health and Hospitals Corporation and the North Bronx Healthcare Network. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO).

Jacobi Medical Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
