Ellis Hospital

Ellis Hospital is a community hospital in Schenectady, New York. It has been named in the nations ‘Top 100 Hospitals’ list for its cardiac and intensive care unit care. The hospital is one of the three hospitals in Capital District authorized by New York State to perform cardiac surgery.

Ellis offers a full range of services, including cardiac rehabilitation, day surgery, diabetes services, nuclear medicine, orthopedic surgery, respiratory therapy, vascular surgery. It is home to one of the few comprehensive stroke centers in upstate New York, mental health services for adults and adolescent, and neurological constant care unit for patients with serious neurological illnesses or injuries. Its cancer treatment program is sponsored by the American College of Surgeons.

The Ellis Hospital School of Nursing offers two year, hospital-based programs for the education of registered nurses in New York State. Ellis Center for Long Term Care, an 82-bed skilled nursing facility within the hospital, specializes in medically complex cases. The nursing home and adolescent and adult mental health program are accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Ellis Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
