Metropolitan Hospital Center

Started in 1875, Metropolitan Hospital Center (MHC) is a full service medical facility. It has been affiliated with New York Medical College since 1875.

Metropolitan, a designated university hospital, strives to offer services in various areas of specialization including medical and surgery care, outpatient treatment and ambulatory care. There is also diagnostic and treatment services for infants, children and young adults with developmental and behavioral disorders.

MHC recently opened two off-site clinics, which are dedicated to providing medical care to the diverse neighborhoods of northern Manhattan. The clinics provides primary care, medicine for HIV-infected patients, antiretroviral and related therapy, lumbar puncture, and prophylactic prescriptions for HIV-positive patients, In addition, nutrition counseling, social services and respiratory therapy are arranged.

MHC is fully accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Metropolitan Hospital Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
