Bellevue Hospital Center

Bellevue Hospital Center, opened in 1736, is America's oldest public hospital. It is an official medical facility for VIPs visiting New York City, including the President of the United States and United Nations' diplomats.

The Bellevue houses the country's first maternity ward, hospital-based ambulance service and emergency pavilion. It is a regional center for brain and spinal cord injuries, which mainly use the modern diagnostic methods and techniques. It is a nationally recognized hospital for cardiac, neurological, toxicologic, neonatal and psychiatric emergencies. The centers of excellence include microsurgery center, Level I trauma center and pediatric resource center.

Bellevue Hospital Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
