Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center
Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center is a leading teaching hospital and regional tertiary care center in Brooklyn. It has been serving the Kings County and neighboring areas for more than 75 years.
The medical center consists of Schulman and Schachne Institute for Nursing and Rehabilitation (220 nursing beds), Arlene and David Schlang Pavilion (87 units of assisted living and independent living rooms), certified home healthcare agency, emergency department with a Level I trauma center, community mental health center, six family care centers and more than 70 specialty clinics. In addition to general and specialized inpatient care, the hospital provides numerous outpatient programs and long-term specialty care services. Surgeries, urology, ambulatory care, critical care, dental/oral surgery, family practice, general medicine, HIV/AIDS treatment, wound care, orthopedic surgery, pain management, pathology and rehabilitation medicine are among the services offered.
As a teaching entity, Brookdale supports research in all medical disciplines and provide guidance to medical education programs. In affiliation with the New York College of Osteopathic Medicine, the Brookdale offers 12 postgraduate positions in an osteopathic internship program. It also permits students from other colleges to participate the medical programs.
Brookdale University Hospital and Medical Center is an affiliate of the State University of New York Health Science Center and accredited as a voluntary general hospital by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
