Lutheran Medical Center

Lutheran Medical Center is a state-of-the-art medical facility serving the south-west Brooklyn area for more than a century. It is an acute care general hospital that provides a choice of community-focused health care services. Today, the medical center stands as a major teaching affiliate of the State University of New York Health Science Center at Brooklyn, and a clinical campus for primary care education.

The Lutheran comprises a 30-bed rehabilitation unit, a 240-bed Lutheran Augustana center for extended care and rehabilitation, nine Lutheran family health centers, a group of primary care centers throughout Brooklyn, and Health Plus - the fastest growing Medicaid managed care program in New York.

The medical center offers various services, including neurosurgery, obstetrics/gynecology, orthopedics, pain management, cardiac care, dentistry, dermatology, diabetics, AIDS care, podiatry, rehabilitation, surgery, urology and women’s care.

Other facilities featured in the infirmary are a Level one trauma center and New York State designated stroke center. In addition to the osteopathic rotating internship, it offers residency training programs in various specialties.

Lutheran Medical Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
