University Hospital of Brooklyn

University Hospital of Brooklyn is the teaching hospital of Suny Downstate Medical Center - the only academic medical center in Brooklyn. The hospital was opened in 1966 with an aim at providing quality care to the residents in Brooklyn and beyond.

Located in central Brooklyn, the hospital is an eight-storied building with 8 intensive care units, 12 operating rooms, an emergency services department, diagnostic and ambulatory surgery facility, ambulatory care center with 75 clinics, three satellite health centers, and a nearby dialysis center.

University Hospital of Brooklyn is a regional referral center for neonatology, transplantation and pediatric hemodialysis. Patients are referred for treatment in respiratory disease, diabetes, AIDS, sports medicine, cardiology and rheumatology. Specialized procedures such as organ transplants, cardiothoracic surgery, neurosurgery, and care for patients with a wide range of inherited, rare, and chronic diseases are also available.

University Hospital of Brooklyn accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
