Rockefeller University Hospital

Rockefeller University Hospital, located on the upper east side of Manhattan, is the first hospital in the nation devoted exclusively to experimental medicine. This free-standing hospital, started in 1910, houses 20 inpatient beds and 20 clinical research beds.

Managed by the Rockefeller University, the hospital provides researchers with an opportunity to conduct clinical studies in a wide variety of chronic medical conditions such as psoriasis, colorectal cancer, multiple sclerosis, HIV infection, hepatitis, AIDS, blood disorders, cystic fibrosis, opiate and cocaine addiction, and obsessive compulsive disorders. The studies conducted at the hospital are approved by the Institutional Review Board (IRB).

In addition to an outpatient clinic - the site where patients are screened and numerous outpatient studies are conducted, Rockefeller Hospital houses a specialized research bio-nutrition department, an on-site research pharmacy, and facilities to support long-stay inpatient studies, including an art and recreation department.

Rockefeller University Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
