North General Hospital

North General Hospital, based in Harlem, is the only private, minority-operated teaching hospital in New York State, and the largest in-home, registered care visiting nurse provider in the north-east. Since its inception in 1979, it has been providing comprehensive health care services to the urban communities.

The hospital strives to offer comprehensive inpatient and outpatient services in various areas of specialization including diabetes, AIDS care, heart disease and stroke, vascular disease, hypertension and asthma. Two approved residency programs in primary care internal medicine and psychiatry are also delivered.

The hospital is also a center of learning and is the only remaining voluntary teaching hospital in Harlem. It undertakes training programs in internal medicine, psychiatry, surgery and podiatry.

North General Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO) and affiliated with the Mount Sinai School of Medicine.

North General Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.

North General Hospital provides Teaching facilities.
