St Barnabas Hospital

St Barnabas Hospital is a non-sectarian, acute care community hospital located in the heart of the central Bronx, New York. Founded in 1966, it is the flagship of the New York-Presbyterian Healthcare System. Today, St Barnabas is the 15th largest hospital in New York State.

The hospital is committed to providing high quality inpatient, outpatient and emergency medical, and dental services. Mental healthcare, adolescent medicine and teenage prenatal care, AIDS care service, ambulatory care, internal medicine, family practice, surgeries, rehabilitation and social work services are the services provided.

A large network of primary care sites and community mental health centers are located throughout the Bronx. St Barnabas Nursing Home, located within the hospital campus, is a 199-bed skilled nursing facility for long term and sub acute care. The hospital also runs the nation’s largest hospital-based general practice dental residency program.

This busy community health care center also functions as a teaching hospital, which undertakes programs in graduate medical education. Residency programs in a variety of specialties are offered.

St Barnabas Hospital is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO) and the American Osteopathic Association (AOA). It is affiliated with New York-Presbyterian Healthcare Network and the Philadelphia College of Osteopathic Medicine.

St Barnabas Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
