Sioux San Indian Hospital
Sioux San Indian Hospital is a public health service located on the eastern edge of the Black Hills in Rapid City, South Dakota. It is a service unit of Indian Health Service built in 1938. The hospital and clinic system is accredited by Joint Commission on the Accreditation of Hospitals Organization (JACHO). Facilities in Sioux San Hospital include a 19-bed acute care general medical unit, a 4-bed pediatric unit, and a 9-bed mental health unit. In addition to the permanent medical staff, several private physicians representing major medical specialties serve as consultants to the hospital staff on a contract basis. Community health representatives, healing program, women's health, and special diabetes programs for Indians and strong heart study are some of the programs conducted by the IHS PHS Indian Hospital.
