Avera Heart Hospital of South Dakota is a specialty healthcare center located in Sioux Falls. Started its function in an area of 125,000 sq ft of land in 2001, this hospital focuses mainly on heart and vascular disease. It is the first and only hospital of its kind in this region dedicated solely to the diagnosis and treatment of heart disease. In addition to the critical care beds, Avera Heart Hospital also offers 3 surgical suites and 3 cath labs. All rooms are private and fully equipped and are arranged in such a manner that it meet the special needs of heart patients. The hospital has over 200 physicians specialized in various fields such as nephrology, pathology, radiology and anesthesiology. Laboratory and pharmacy facilities are also available in the premises. Avera Heart Hospital is a cooperative venture between Avera McKennan, North Central Heart Institute and MedCath, Inc.
