South Dakota Human Services Center

South Dakota Human Services Center is a state-of-the-art treatment center providing inpatient psychiatric and chemical dependency treatment services to South Dakota’s residents. Started its service with an initial name as Yankton State Hospital in 1879 in Yankton, this hospital was renamed to South Dakota Human Services Center in 1974. With an overall of over 600 employees, hospital treats people of all ages, including nursing home patients and children. The Human Services Center conducts adolescent psychiatric program. Other services include occupational, recreation, physical, educational, speech and hearing evaluation and therapy, as well as dental and library services. Medical consultants in the department of neurology, ophthalmology are available as needed. Laboratory, pharmacy and a hair salon are also lying in the hospital premises.

South Dakota Human Services Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
