Southwestern Va Mental Health Institute

Southwestern Va Mental Health Institute (SWVMHI) has been in service since 1887. It is a psychiatric facility operated by the Department of Mental Health Mental Retardation and Substance Abuse Services (DMHMRSAS).<p> It is a part of Virginia's public mental health system and it provides services for adult, geriatric and adolescent patients in south-western Virginia. Individualized care is available in a variety of treatment modalities including psychiatric, medical, nursing, psychological, psychosocial, dietary and rehabilitation.<p> SWVMHI is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations.

Southwestern Va Mental Health Institute accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
