Virginia Mason Medical Center
Virginia Mason Medical Center (VMMC) is a private, non-profit organization established in 1920. It was named after the daughters of James Tate Mason, M.D., and John M. Blackford, M.D., who co-founded the clinic with radiologist Maurice Dwyer, M.D. This 80 bedded hospital is a complete, coordinated health care system with 400 physicians, offering both primary care and a full range of specialty care.
The medical center includes a regional network of neighborhood clinics, an internationally recognized research institute, an acute care hospital licensed for 336 beds and an active philanthropic foundation. Other services of VMMC are physician services, diabetes supply center, exercise assessment, foot care and eye care.
VMMC also has a Bailey-Boushay House - a nursing residence and day health center for people living with AIDS. VMMC in partnership with BRI (Benaroya Research Institute) is the northwest’s leader in offering clinical studies to patients.
