Mount Carmel Hospital
Opened in 1919, Mount Carmel Hospital is located in Colville serving a three county area in Northeast Washington. This Critical Access hospital was purchased in 1940 by the Dominican Sisters, and in 1993 the Dominicans transferred sponsorship of the hospital to the Sisters of Providence. From then onwards, it became a progressive, full service hospital offering advanced medical and surgical care as well as specialty support and outpatient services. It is affiliated with Providence Services and Providence Health Care in Spokane.
In 1990, Mount Carmel Hospital was awarded American Hospital Association Award for strategic options for survival. An 8-bed intensive care unit and pharmacy, CT scan room and ultrasound room are the added features of Mount Carmel Hospital. Advanced diagnostic imaging services including nuclear medicine, ultrasound, X-ray, CT Scanning, and MRI are also provided by the hospital. The hospital also supports the community through community health education center and resident physician training programs.
