UCSD Medical Center - Hillcrest is the primary hospital of San Diego School of Medicine, University of California. This is the region's only academic medical center which offers a full range of medical and surgical services.
This 386 bedded hospital offers primary care and specialized services including cardiology, endocrinology, diagnosis and management of genetic diseases, neurology, orthopedics, oncology, pediatrics, reproductive medicine and fertility services, pulmonary medicine, home health care, organ transplantation and bone marrow transplantation. It also has a Regional Burn Center, the National Institutes of Health, the Infant Special Care Center and National Cancer Institute.
UCSD Medical Center – Hillcrest holds the county's only Level I trauma center. It is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
