St Francis Hospital and Medical Center, founded in 1897, is the largest medical facility in Connecticut and the largest catholic hospital in New England. It is a regional referral center offering sophisticated, contemporary medicine with major clinical concentrations in cardiology, oncology, women's and children's services, behavioral health, emergency/trauma care and rehabilitation. St Francis Hospital and Medical Center is affiliated with the University Of Connecticut Schools of Medicine and Dentistry. It is also accredited the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).
