William W Backus Hospital

William W Backus Hospital is a not-for-profit, acute care community hospital that has been serving the people of eastern Connecticut since 1893. The medical facility has been constantly expanding, providing new programs and services and forging strategic alliances with other healthcare organizations in the state thus ensuring a comprehensive healthcare cover to the common man. Backus is the only state-designated trauma center east of the Connecticut River, and it is the only regional facility that can receive, via air medical transport helicopter, patients with severe traumatic injuries.

William W Backus Hospital’s services include cardiac care, cancer treatment, hyperbaric therapy, birthing center, dermatology clinic, pediatrics, neurology, internal medicine and gynecology.

William W Backus Hospital is accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

William W Backus Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
