Connecticut Mental Health Center
Connecticut Mental Health Center has been founded in 1966 with the aim of serving the mentally ill in the community, and also as a research and training institute in Connecticut. It offers medical service to those suffering from severe and persistent psychosis, depression, anxiety, addictions (including alcoholism, cocaine, and gambling) and those with co-existing mental health and addiction problems. The medical center's specialties include psychiatry, neuropharmacology, psychology, psychiatric nursing, social work and pastoral.
CMHC also provides outreach programs for individuals who are homeless, those who are at serious risk for mental illness, or involved with the criminal justice system. Research facilities available here are nationally recognized while the training infrastructure is one among the best in the country.
