Founded in 1962, Bascom Palmer Eye Institute is committed to provide comprehensive ophthalmic care to infants, children and adults. It serves as the Department of Ophthalmology for the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine in Miami and is rated as one of the nationís best ophthalmic hospitals by board-certified ophthalmologists from across the United States. The institute caters to all kinds of eye disorders such as cataract, corneal and external diseases, diabetic retinopathy, astigmatism and presbyopia. Anne Bates Leach Eye Hospital, Evelyn F. and William L. McKnight Vision Research Center and Edith and Earl Retter Educational Auditorium are the three interdisciplinary components of the institute.
