Douglas Gardens Hospital
Douglas Gardens Hospice, Inc. is a not-for-profit affiliate of the Miami Jewish Home & Hospital for the Aged, the largest, most comprehensive, non-sectarian, geriatric healthcare center in the Southeast U.S., and is dedicated to providing quality, compassionate end-of-life care and services for terminal patients and families of all faiths in Miami-Dade and Monroe Counties.
Hospice care is a covered benefit of Medicare, Medicaid and many insurance programs. Patients who meet the admission criteria cannot be denied Hospice care and services due to their inability to pay. The first Hospice Program in the U.S. was started in 1974. The Medicare Hospice benefit was passed in 1983.
Palliative, comprehensive care, amelioration of pain and spiritual support with preservation of the individuality and dignity of the patient and family, as well as bereavement, community education and support services is the mission of Douglas Gardens Hospice.
