Children’s Hospital of Alabama (TCHA), a pediatric specialty hospital, has been in service 1911. Located in the south of Birmingh, it is the premier facility for medical and surgical cases for newborn through 19 years of age. The hospital is famed as one of the largest pediatric outpatient centers in USA and the best research-based-treatment center in the world.<p> Specialized treatments for cancer, diabetes, sleep disorders, cystic fibrosis, immunodeficiency, sickle cell disease, epilepsy, lung disease and kidney disease are provided there.<p> TCHA serves as headquarters for the regional poison control center and the Southeast Child Safety Institute. A pediatric burn center, pediatric hematology/oncology center and a kidney dialysis center are functioning there.
