HawaiiMaui Memorial Medical CenterMaui Memorial Medical Center is the oldest and largest acute care facility of the Hawaii Health Systems Corporation-operated facilities. Located in Wailuku, the hospital started its operation in 1884 and was originally named "Malulani" (Protection of Heaven) by Queen Kapiolani. In 1963, the hospital changed its name to Maui Memorial Hospital and officially to Maui Memorial Medical Center in 1998.
Licensed for 196 beds, MMMC now employs nearly 700 employees. It is accredited by Joint Commission on Accreditation of Health Care Organizations (JCAHO). The patient services include obstetrics/gynecology with childbirth education classes, general angiography and interventional procedures, telemetry, pharmacy and laboratory. Maui Memorial Medical Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
