Alton Memorial Hospital

Alton Memorial Hospital is a JCAHO-accredited, full-service hospital serving the River Bend area of southwestern Illinois. Opened in 1937, this modern hospital dedicated to Alice E. Smith and was founded by Eunice Smith and Ellen Smith Hatch, daughters of Alice E. Smith.

The hospital underwent expansion during the years between 1942 and 1977, increasing the total number of beds to 222. The AMH also houses a 64-bed Eunice Smith Home, Family Birth Center, a high-tech surgical center and emergency department. Wide range of quality health care services such as the area's only balloon angioplasty program, open MRI through Twin Rivers MRI Center, CT services, PET imaging, and nuclear medicine and other advanced medical imaging services, as well as cardiac and pulmonary rehabilitation are offered by the hospital.

AMH is also known for its heart services, orthopedic surgery, oncology services, women's health services, outpatient surgery and testing, gastroenterology, pain management, pulmonary medicine, rehabilitation and sports medicine. It also arranges numerous health education and wellness programs to the people of Alton, Illinois, and the surrounding communities.

Alton Memorial Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
