Rush University Medical Center

Rush University Medical Center, one of the first medical colleges in the Midwest, is an academic medical center consisting of an 830-bed hospital serving adults and children, the 110-bed Johnston R. Bowman Health Center and Rush University. Located in Chicago, this health care unit was formerly known as Rush-Presbyterian-St. Luke's Medical Center.

With physicians and scientists involved in hundreds of research projects dealing with new therapies and medical devices, Rush has become a thriving center for basic and clinical research. The Medical Center offers more than 70 highly selective residency and fellowship programs in medical and surgical specialties and subspecialties. This facility is accredited by JCAHO as well as Commission on Accreditation of Rehabilitation Facilities.

The services offered by RUMC include cancer wellness center, heart and vascular services, neurology and neurosurgery, orthopedic services, primary care services, womenís services, chapel/pastoral services, ethics consultation service, interpreter services and patient library. All the hospital rooms contain electronically operated beds, telephone, televisions service free of charge and meals.

Cafetaria, Au Bon Pain Restaurant and Coffee Bar, gift shops, newspapers and vending machines are some of the additional facilities provided. In addition to its mission in patient care, education and research, Rush also offers community outreach programs.

Rush University Medical Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
