Harrisburg Medical Center is a progressive hospital providing quality health care services to the rural citizens of southeastern Illinois. Being one of the largest health care facilities in the state, HMC offers a variety of health care services. With 86 beds and 46 physicians on staff, the hospital offers surgical procedures, diagnostic testing, home health outreach, nutrition guidance and volunteer services.

The hospital also has a 28 bed inpatient behavioral health service for both adults and geriatric adults. The center of excellence are in the fields of cardiology, emergency medicine, ear/nose/throat, family practice, gastroenterology, gynecology, internal medicine, nephrology, neurology and neurosurgery, oncology and radiation oncology, ophthalmology, orthopedics, pathology, podiatry, psychiatry, pulmonology, radiology, surgery, and urology.

Additional supporting services include a private two-room mammography suite, ambulatory care, rehabilitation service with occupational therapy, speech therapy, sports medicine, osteoporosis testing, cataract surgery, endoscopy, laboratory, pharmacy, radiology and respiratory therapy. The hospital conducts outreach programs to community businesses through Brown Bag Luncheons and TEA's (Teaching Early Awareness). It also provides wellness activities for schools and other community organizations.

Harrisburg Medical Center accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
