Stormont-Vail Healthcare Center is an integrated health care system located in Topeka, in northeast Kansas. The system comprises Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center, a 586-bed acute care center, and Cotton-O’Neil Clinic. These two medical facilities merged in 1995 to form a single system. It also includes PediatricCare, Medical Arts Pharmacy, Jane C. Stormont Women’s Health Center, Topeka Single Day Surgery and Stormont-Vail Foundation.
The second oldest hospital in Kansas, Stormont-Vail Regional Health Center is the product of a merger between Christ’s Hospital (founded in 1884) and the Jane C. Stormont Hospital and Training School for Nurses (1894). It is the first and only hospital in its region to use a new cardiovascular digital imaging system in its Cardiac Catheterization Lab and the only hospital in Shawnee County with a Level III Neonatal Intensive Care Unit. The services, provided at the center, range from the county's most specialized level of infant care to a variety of older adult services. The health care is serviced by 24-hours in-house pharmacy, pathology and clinical laboratory and a medical imaging service department, with facilities for computed tomography, diagnostic radiology, nuclear medicine and ultrasound.
