Osawatomie State Hospital
Osawatomie State Hospital, a psychiatric care facility, is located in Osawatomie, KS. As an agency of the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services, the facility serves the psychiatric disabled adult citizens in the 46 easternmost counties of Kansas through collaboration of services with 18 Mental Health Centers.
Began in 1866 as Kansas Insane Asylum, the facility was renamed to Osawatomie State Hospital in 1901. Since then, the hospital has continued to be a leader in mental health in Kansas.
Osawatomie State Hospital has 176 accredited beds. It provides services of psychiatrists and internists, registered nurses, social workers, psychologists, activity therapists, pharmacists and dietitians. A variety of interesting therapies are offered here which comprised of music therapy, therapeutic recreation, vocational therapy and home and garden services.
