Larned State Hospital
Larned State Hospital is one of three psychiatric hospitals operated by the Kansas Department of Social and Rehabilitation Services. This 352-bed, comprehensive state psychiatric hospital, established in 1914, is located on a 78-acre campus along the Arkansas River and Santa Fe Trail. The hospital offers mental health services for children and adolescents, adult psych, and forensic psych patients. Currently, LSH provides three formal treatment programs, Psychiatric Service Program, State Security Program and Sexual Predator Treatment Program.
With its 685 full-time employees, the hospital operates on a treatment team basis using state of the art services. It is staffed by psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, nurses, licensed mental health technicians, LPN, mental health aides, activity therapists, and physicians.
Larned State Hospital also serves as a training site for numerous schools throughout the United States providing internship opportunities in nursing, social welfare, psychology, psychiatry, and pharmacy in addition to other disciplines.
