Providence Hospital



Providence Hospital and Medical Centers is a collaboration of Providence Hospital in Southfield and a group of more than 25 outpatient medical and specialty centers throughout the Detroit metropolitan area. The core facility opened in 1845, when the Daughters of Charity established its predecessor entity, St Vincent’s Hospital, in Detroit. In 1965, St Vincent’s Hospital was shifted to Southfield.

Providence Hospital, a subsidiary of St John Health (SJH), provides numerous medical, surgical and diagnostic services. Behavioral medicine, diabetes care, cardiology services, orthopedics, nutrition management, pain management, radiology, surgical services, women's services, healing arts center and meditation are the key services provided.

Providence Hospital and Medical Centers is accredited by the Joint Commission on Accreditation of Healthcare Organizations (JCAHO).

Providence Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.

Providence Hospital provides Teaching facilities.
