Montana State Hospital

Montana State Hospital is the first and only publicly operated inpatient psychiatric hospital in the state. It is located in the Deer Lodge Valley between Butte and Missoula, offering quality psychiatric evaluation, treatment and rehabilitation services for adults with severe mental illness. The hospital operates 2 transitional care units.

Some of the treatments include music therapy, relaxation training, leisure education, evening leisure activities, cooperative games, individual sections, mental illness education and adult education.

The Montana State Hospital library houses nearly 5,000 books, videos, kits, and cassette tapes regarding mental health.

Montana State Hospital accepts both Medicare and Medicaid patients.
